Battery Service Appointment Call Procedure
Battery Service hours of operation vary, and are subject to change. Mobile Battery Service is available in PARTS of the following areas: Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Nassau, Suffolk, Lower Westchester, Upper Westchester, Orange, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Ulster, Oneida and Herkimer counties.
When a member calls in requesting an appointment call for Battery Service, the following steps must be taken:
- Explain to the member that you can check to see if they are in an area where the station can provide Battery Service.
- After acquiring the breakdown location, call into MAPS to get the station code that handles where the member is requesting Battery Service
- After getting the station code, check the Battery Service Provider Chart – this is in GENIE or it may be on your cubicle wall
- If the member is in an area where the station does provide Battery Service, place a call to the station to confirm they will be running a Battery Service truck for the time the member is requesting. Note on the call the station that will be responding and that you’ve confirmed they do offer Battery Service and let the member know.
- If the member is in an area where Battery Service is not available, let the member know. If the member is insistent on having Battery Service, explain that we can attempt to bounce their call to the nearest Mobile Battery Service station. If that fails, explain that we can put in a call for a battery boost with the responding station and discuss with the member their options after the car is started:
- Give the address to responding station where member can drive to for a battery
- Give the address to the nearest AAA station that offers Mobile Battery Service
- Give the address to the nearest AAR station where the member can drive to for a battery
