Summons Affidavits

If a member states they have received a ticket/summons while waiting for AAA road service, we can send the member an affidavit stating their vehicle was disabled and the member was waiting for AAA road service at the time they received the ticket.

If the member needs a letter for work / missed appointment /school, we can send a letter verifying that they called for roadside assistance. This letter will include the call details.

The affidavit is a notarized letter that states the date, time, car information and breakdown location and that the member placed a call to AAA. The information on the affidavit or the letter is based on the call information found in our system. This information cannot be altered or adjusted.

NOTE: The affidavit is an aid to the member. It does not guarantee that the ticket will be dismissed. The member must challenge the ticket in the normal manner.

If a member is requesting this documentation complete the "Summons Affidavit" Contact type in MCT.

Members are to be asked what they need the proof for, and you are to indicate in the MCT - Summons Affidavit - Additional Comments box, whether this is needed for a ticket, or not.

If the proof of RSA is needed for a ticket, simply indicate in the Additional Comments box: "SEND AFFIDAVIT". A notarized affidavit will be sent to the member.

If the proof is for their job / missed appointment / etc, indicate in the Additional Comments box: "SEND LETTER". A letter on AAA letterhead with the call details will be sent to the member.

Requests are normally processed and mailed within 3 business days.

If a member requests, a copy of the affidavit or letter can be faxed. Advise the member that the affidavits copy will not accurately reflect that the affidavit is a notarized document. The raised, notary seal will not show.
